1. To assess all new children brought to the EIC |

- document their activities, difficulties and needs.
- assess their speech and language development
- discuss their needs with their family.
- arrange for further investigations as indicated
- advise parents regarding therapy options
(including details of the organizations locally and nationally)

2. Where parents choose to attend the EIC regularly |
|
|
|
|
- to arrange for the child to join a specified group
- to discuss each child’s needs with other EIC staff and evolve an appropriate programme.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
3. To inform referring agency of outcome of assessment and of follow-up arrangements
4. To oversee all group work and ensure that group activities are relevant and appropriate for all children in that group.
5. In discussion with parents and EIC staff , to monitor and document progress of all children attending EIC, modifying programmes as required.
6. To offer counseling and support to families of children attending EIC, including advice regarding entitlements (e.g., concessions) and providing access to information regarding specific disabilities or therapies.
7. To foster parent-parent support on both an individual and group basis.
8. To liaise with other professionals locally and nationally regarding both EIC activities and specific children; in particular with mainstream schools in order to foster inclusive education. 9. To ensure efficient administrative practices are followed including monitoring of budgeting, purchasing etc. |

- To assist with the development/review of speech and language programmes
- To review the needs of individual children and make suggestions as required
|
|

| Home Management Group (3rd Saturday) |

- to assist the principal in the functioning of the HMG
for individual children assigned
- to ensure progress in speech and language is monitored and programmes modified as needed
- where children attending HMG are also attending another special/mainstream school, ensure liaison with staff from that institution is taking place

| Training |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
- hold in-service training sessions for Karuna Vihar/Awareness/EIC staff as required
- assist with training for outside visitors as required
|
|
|

|
|
|

| Management |

|
- to ensure harmonious and mutually beneficial interaction among the EIC, KV, CVT, Awareness and LRMF staff
- to assist in maintaining appropriate records for each child and ensure that regular progress reports are filed in accordance with donor agency requirements
- to participate actively in grant proposal writing
- to assist in writing the LRMF Annual Report

- to keep up to date with advances and changes in rehabilitation practices, particularly those related directly to young children with special needs, by personal research and reading, attendance at seminars, conferences etc.
- to arrange for purchase of books/subscriptions to professional journals
- to arrange for in-house seminars/workshops by experts in the field
