Description: Latika Roy Foundation is a community-based organization focused on the needs of children with disability. As we educate people with special needs, we often find that their families and community members also require additional assistance in addressing the challenges that they face. For this reason we seek a culturally sensitive counselor who will respond to the needs of children as well as their families, teachers, and communities. Working with every level of the community—from the children themselves to the teachers and caseworkers providing assistance—our counselor will address a variety of situations that may arise in the child's education, play, family structure, and lifestyle. This diverse and engaging position requires someone who enjoys a range of interactions and daily tasks.
Responsibilities:
- Work one-on-one with parents and family members handling issues of self-esteem, abuse, frustrations, and social stigma.
- Engage and assess children with specific needs, especially focusing on creating programs to assist the child's intellectual, social, and emotional development.
- Support and advise staff according to their personal need.
- Organize group discussions especially focused on empowerment and issues relating to disability.
- Lead training workshops for staff on how to respond to assorted issues of Latika Roy Foundation's parents and children.
- Work with doctors, physiotherapists, and caseworkers to develop programs according to each child's particular situation.

- Willing to learn new techniques for counseling and group management.
- Has a friendly, engaging, and caring personality.
- Experienced as a counselor for children with special needs.
- Fluent in English and Hindi.
