Over the next three years, the Foundation has a campaign-based community outreach plan:
- Year One: Everybody Gets In - Accessibility for All
- Year Two: Everybody Rides - Transport for All
- Year Three: Everybody Works - Employment for All
|
In Year One, we will hold informative sessions on the latest understandings in barrier-free architecture and construction for architects, contractors and government officials. We will also work towards policy level decisions on barrier-free construction in government buildings and roads.
In Year Two, we will hold interactive sessions with bus and vikram drivers at their stands around the city. These will involve street theatre and a pledge campaign in which drivers promise to make their vehicle “Special Needs Friendly”. Those signing the pledge will be given colorful stickers to designate theirs as a vehicle a person with disability can board with confidence.
In return, we will pledge to support Vikram drivers in their negotiations with the police and municipal authorities for parking privileges and the like. In Year Three, we will work with potential employers to motivate them to hire a percentage of people with disability as part of their work force. Our target audience includes Rotary and Lions Club members, chapter meetings of the Confederation of Indian Industry, and hotel and shopkeepers’ associations. |
