As part of their training, CVT students get work internships in companies, businesses, offices and in other voluntary organizations. These are two-week, supervised programs designed to give the trainees a taste of working life, with the discipline and culture that implies. They learn about punctuality, responsibility and office etiquette. They also learn new ways to fend for themselves. In the safe world of the CVT, where everyone knows them and understands their own unique ways of behaving and communicating, it’s easy to get a little too relaxed. The “real world” is not so tolerant and the experience of having to cope on a trial basis helps them to better prepare for the transition when it will be for keeps.
