Is there a child on earth who doesn’t want to play?

Play is what children do. It’s their work. It’s how they make sense of the world and their place in it. It’s how they understand objects, relationships, cause and effect.

But more than anything else, play is fun! Whether it is essential for children’s development or not (and it is), it’s what they naturally want to do. Our job as grownups is to help them do it. To give them time and space and permission. To watch as they experiment and question and poke about. To let them make noise and a mess and the most of their lives.
