Activity based learning is the core of how we work with the children in all our projects. But it doesn’t end there. That spirit of learning and growing through doing permeates the entire foundation – including networking! Rather than just talk about how we should join together to bring about justice and equity for the most vulnerable members of our community, we prefer to start with action.
Recently, a film festival was organized in Delhi to showcase innovative new movies on disability, produced from different parts of the country. (One of ours – a 60-second clip called “9 Gold Medals” – won first prize!). When the organizers approached us to bring the festival to Dehradun, we thought of turning it into a networking opportunity. Rather than do it all ourselves, we are asking our colleagues in this district to help with the organizing, so that we all join hands, bringing our individual skills and contacts together in one common cause. The process of working with a whole new team, learning to accommodate individual styles and ideas, is crucial if we are ever to speak with one voice.
